Terms of use and data licence
Draft, effective on publication. Prepared for review by Electric Car Home Ltd and not yet checked by a solicitor.
1. Who we are
The service at data.cleantechcontent.co.uk and mcp.cleantechcontent.co.uk (the "Service") is operated by Electric Car Home Ltd (company number 12046339, registered in England and Wales, registered office Garswood, Warnford, Southampton, Hampshire, SO32 3LH), trading as Cleantech Content ("we", "us"). Contact: david@cleantechcontent.co.uk.
2. What the Service is
The Service provides UK energy tariff, price cap and public EV charging price information compiled from public sources, as a REST API and an MCP server, for use by software including AI agents. It is information, not advice. We are not an energy supplier, price comparison service, broker or financial adviser, and we are not affiliated with Ofgem, Octopus Energy, or any supplier or charging network named in the data.
3. Accuracy and no warranty
We take care to verify each value against the source it cites and to record the date it was checked. Prices change, sources contain errors, and regional and personal circumstances vary. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, and a figure should be confirmed with the supplier or network before a decision that depends on it. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for loss arising from use of the Service, and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
4. Data licence
Subject to these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable licence to use, reproduce and display data returned by the Service in your own products, analyses and agent outputs, including commercially, provided that:
- you attribute the data to Cleantech Content where practical (the
meta.attributiontext or a link to data.cleantechcontent.co.uk), and you preserve each value'ssource_urlandverified_atwhen presenting it as a fact; - you do not resell or redistribute the dataset, or a substantial part of it, as a standalone data product or a competing API;
- you do not remove or misrepresent provenance, or present unverified rows as verified.
Underlying facts (a supplier's published price) are not ours; our licence covers the compilation, structure and verification.
5. Fair use and limits
The free tier is 25 calls a day per address and 100 a day per free key, and we may change these. We may rate-limit, block or revoke keys that abuse the Service, scrape it beyond the API, or attempt to circumvent metering.
6. Payments
Per-call payments in USDC through the x402 protocol are settled on-chain and are final once the call is served. Card payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms; we do not see or store card details. Agent packs bought with Shared Payment Tokens are final once the pack is issued. Unused developer-pack credit is refundable within 14 days of purchase on request. Prices are in US dollars. We are not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged; if that changes we will say so on this page and on the pricing page.
7. API keys
You are responsible for keeping keys secret and for use made with them. We store only a hash of each key.
8. Changes and termination
We may change the Service, these terms or prices with notice on this page. We may suspend or end the Service; if we end it while you hold unused developer-pack credit we will refund that credit.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
